Katsuya Imai is a Japanese Art Director and Production Designer residing in Los Angeles, California. The child of a film buff, Katsuya grew up watching movies with his father. His parents knew from an early age that he had an eye for the dark, brooding aesthetic and a vivid, creative imagination.

Graduating with a BA in Cinema (Directing) from Nihon University in Tokyo, Katsuya cut his teeth working in production as Assistant Art Director on Japanese films before relocating to the United States in 2018.

Katsuya hit the ground running in Los Angeles, with an Art Director role on films like “Kate (2021),” star. Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Woody Harrelson, and “Earthquake Bird (2019).”

An avid reader of fiction, Katsuya is inspired by the stories and characters; he loves to create their world in his mind, as well as drawing inspiration from his everyday life in the city. Katsuya is beloved for his artistic storytelling, as well as his sense of humor and easy-going attitude.
